The town that the party currently resides in is called Beechtown. Aoife goes shopping in the markets and sees some Norman book burners. Thomas spends some time trying to work out what Vhalon is up to in the halls of the institute. Metra has been trying to work out the layout of the town
Bounty handed out for a criminal ensorcellor in the market, refered to as Mr Daze, short man (dwarf gnome or halfling). Aoife takes the wanted poster off the wall of the institute and heads to the library to find Thomas who knows about magic. Aoife slams the poster down on the book Thomas is reading and says “you might be useful catching this sorcerer”. Aoife then goes and puts the poster in front of Vhalons visor who decides it looks like fun. Aoife and Vhalon head to the markets with Thomas trailing behind trying to collect all the stuff he will need.
Minke, Sybil and Wyatt are victims of the ensorcellor. They are professionals who work around the markets. Boron is the smith Aoife normally buys from, he knows that Mynki is a florist who works in that shop over there. Boron has heard of these crimes and is kind of afraid of this magic thing. Note: Normans are near the fruit and veg section of the market.
We head over to the florist to see Mynki. Thomas calls out to Mynki and explains what we are after. Thomas tries talking to the old woman and tells her thaeaut he is a librarian. She keeps saying “I returned it!”. Thomas explains about the sorcerer, Mynki says that the man was lovely but she had to tell her son because all her money was gone. The man was very tall and had a pleasant scent like orange blossom on Sunday. The sorcerer took her to the building were Maj used to work (Thomas remembers that maj was a man-eater who ended up being killed for breaking the wrong heart). Maj used to work at the Tailors and Seamstresses guild (the guild closed around 12 years ago).
Wyatt has a ‘fix it with nails’ business. Aoife heals Wyatt who has just fallen off a roof after trying to fix a clock. Thomas talks to Wyatt who asks if Vhalon is a person. Thomas deflects the question and finds out that Wyatt was robbed by a fat lass in a white dress, smelled like incense and a tangy smell (like oranges). He was cheating on his wife with this fat lass.
Sybil is a young man who is new in town. Vhalon has seen him in the halls of the institute sneaking around. Thomas goes into the institute to ask Thesis about Sybil and talks to the secretary of Thesis. Thomas does a whole heap of time wasting bureaucratic stuff to try and get the secretary to give use more information on Sybil. Thomas does a deal with a secretary (he has to go on a date with Sonda). Thomas finds one of the names is written illegibly on purpose in the book. This person comes and goes several time over the last few weeks. Entrance and exit names are always directly after one another, never on a weekend. Visits of the illegible person have increased in frequency recently.
Vhalon and Thomas go to the centre of town and Vhalon tries to ask his deity were Sybil is. As Vhalon is trying to cast the spell, Metra notices a very nice looking man smile at her from the crowd, he has a faint pleasant smell of oranges and church incense. Metra is enchanted by this man and follows him into an alley. Aoife notices Metra wander off and tries to follow stealthily. The man notices Aoife and tries to enchant her as well. Aoife notices that she is having a pleasant social experience and tries to work out what is going on. Metras pet bird Artemis starts to squawk wildly at this man and peck at him. The man swears and starts to run. Aoife chases him down and trips him over. As Aoife is reading his rights and trying to manacle him he smashes two vials on the cobbles.
Thomas and Vhalon catch up to Aoife and Metra and help to question the suspect. As he is being questioned he reveals that he was sold the vials by a man who was working out of the old seamstress guild. The party takes the suspect to the authorities and turn him in to the guard. The party decides to go and work out what is going on with this perfume seller.
We approach the old seamstress/taylors guild. Artemis follows the copper haired plump girl and says she is in a residential building shaped like a big tree stump and coloured like a field mouse. Everyone covers their faces with scraps of fabric to avoid inhaling the ‘ensorcellment’. We surround the building and Vhalon knocks on the door. Nothing happens. Vhalon continues to knock.
Someone appears down the alley as Aoife enchants her weapon. He draws a dagger and approaches with the intent to knife her. Metra moves around the building hearing Aoife read the knife man his rights. Vhalon approaches the building and scans for evil. Spotting something swinging rhythmically in the room that is extremely evil. Aoife braces herself for the knife attack bashes with her shield my swinging her Warhammer. The knife blow from the assailant glances off her armour. Thomas runs around the corner and turns invisible. Metra rounds the corner and shoots an arrow at the assailant who is pinned to Aoife’s shield with an arrow.
Aoife pries open the bars on the window and smashes the glass. Aoife casts light on an arrow of metra who shoots it at the thing that is moving in the room. The light illuminates a hanging body that has magic symbols moving on it. The eyes on the body light up and some of the manikins start to move behind Vhalon. Vhalon smashes the body with all of his strength it swings back violently and comes crashing back into him. The life essence of the body is projected into one of the manikins. Thomas tries to enter in through the broken glass window and cuts himself. Metra fires another arrow at the manikin but has to jump into the room near the corpse.
Aoife drops her shield and manacles the initial assailant to the window and informs him that panicking is bad for his health and may cause him to bleed out from his wounds. The corpse swings towards Metra with a hand outstretched. The corpse touches Metra as she hacks into it. Vhalon swings around toward the manikins bringing his sword in a wide sweeping arch, the manikin mimics his attack and swings towards him. Aoife jumps through the window and lunges at the corpse swinging at it with her Warhammer. Metra backs up and shoots at the corpse but misjudges where the body was and the arrow hits the wall behind the body.
Thomas notices that the manacled man is muttering to himself about trusting casters. Thomas attempts to talk to the man while invisible and freak him out. Thomas then makes himself visible and tries to calm the captive as he writhes against his bonds like a pinned animal.
The manikins bristle and shoots pins across the room. Vhalon turns and runs through the swinging corpse with a lunging strike destroying the remaining head of the swinging corpse. Aoifes charges across the room and tries to tear a twitching manikin open but mistimes the strike and is struck by the manikin. Metra shoots another arrow but ends up making the manikin even spikier. She tries to fend off the manikin but it lunges forward impaling her with her own arrows.
Thomas bargains with the captive man to get him to calm down so he does not help himself. Thomas informs the guy that he should calm down and not move. Thomas looks through the window
Vhalon turns to defend himself but the advancing manikins but they are both too fast. Vhalon calls to Thomas to burn them with fire. Thomas yells that this is not a good idea and maybe we should get them out of the room. Vhalon tries to run the manikins through the wall but they turn out to be solid and spiky. The remaining manikin fighting metra starts to vibrate and smoke before exploding. Metra and Aoife dive out the way of the blast but Aoife is slightly too slow and is singed. Vhalon drops his arms to shield himself with the remaining manikins. He turns around and crushes the manikins by head bashing them.
Following the battle Vhalon forms a sanctuary and Aoife heals the injured party members and the captive before treating her own wounds.
Metra begins to questions the captive, he says that he is a dealer for these potions that make you a bit more attractive. He says there is normally an old geezer with the funny hair answers the door
Aoife petitions Baldoon to track the old man who was selling the potions. Baldoon says: “Rats burrow to avoid the light of civilisation”.
Aoife begins a spiral search pattern out from the tailors to find a sewer entrance. She notices: there is a lean-to that is evidence, there is a flagstone that is not what it seems and someone has cleared dirt from around the tailors.
Vhalon searches the floor of the tailors. He notices that there is a draft coming from behind a pile of crates. He clears the crates and finds a door. A cabinet has been placed in front of a stair well door after the shop has been ransacked.
Aoife approaches the lean to and finds a knife in the lean to. The knife has an underworld symbol on it that Aoife does not recognise. The lean to has a felse brick that contains a pouch with 4 coins, couple of folded notes and some vellum satchels of some deep red liquid. The notes list who owes who payment/favours. People are paying for something called pigsblood. Aoife asks the captive about the drug he says it is a narcotic that can be used as a poison.
Aoife and Thomas look around the building and investigate the area where the building has been cleaned of dirt. Thomas notices that the building would have been covered in a line of chalk which might have been a ward spell that was cleaned off.
Aoife and Thomas investigate the odd looking flagstone. They remove the flagstone and stench of death escapes from what used to be a sewer entrance. There are six bodies 2 are middle class and were stabbed the other 4 bodies are extremely poor.
Vhalon and Metra descend down into the basement of the building. Vhalon hear the click of a trip wire on the last step that releases a wave of flame. Vhalon raises his shield and takes the brunt of the blast shielding Metra from the fire. There is an old man in the basement who intones “What are you?”. Vhalon rolls his torch into the room to get a better look at the surroundings. The old man looks like he is much older than he should be. The old man says that his potions are lovely and that we should try a sample. At this moment Aoife tells Thomas that now is a good time for fire. Thomas points at the old man who starts to glow as the candles that glow brightly. The old man explodes in flame that envelopes all his surroundings. At the same moment Vhalon lunges at him and Metra shoots him in the throat.
The building begins to burn violently and Aoife carries Thomas out of the front door. As it begins to burn. Metra follows Aoife and Thomas out of the building and Vhalon follows after moving back through the acid gas that the perfume maker released. Aoife heals the burns on Vhalons body and realises that she has left her previous assailant chained to a building that is about to explode….
